RATINGS

95James Suckling

This has such a succulent and fluid feel with aromas of white and yellow peaches, as well as spiced biscuits. The palate has a very fresh and succulent feel with bright, zipped-up, crunchy fruit with some soft, layered flavors.

94Wine Enthusiast

...aromas of Anjou pear, sliced almonds and figs waft up from the glass. Full body backed by lively acidity...powerful, flavorful and handsomely oaky wine. Lemon-zest and marzipan notes mingle on the palate...

93The Wine Advocate

...preserved lemons, gunflint, dried white flowers, a classy framing of new oak spice and a core of pastry, spiced apples and white peaches. The palate is medium-bodied, rounded, silky and classically styled, with a great interplay of oak spice, ripe fruits and savory notions, finishing very long with just enough freshness...

92Wine Spectator

A sleek, pure-tasting version, with notes of crushed stone highlighting the expressive green apple and white currant flavors, backed by firm acidity. Tangerine and lemon curd accents fill the precise finish.

REGION

United States, California, North Coast, Mendocino County, Anderson Valley

Mendocino AVA was established in 1984 and amended in 1989. It includes numerous sub-appellations. Mendocino AVA is entirely within Mendocino County, and the AVA is known for its Mediterranean climate. Vintners successfully grow Carignan, Charbono, Grenache, Zinfandel, Petit Sirah and Syrah. In cooler parts of the region Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are also grown. Mendocino County is home to nearly 600 vineyards, and many have been certified organic for decades, thanks to the region’s famous “green and sustainable” approach to agriculture and nearly everything else. Mendocino was named for 16th century explorers, a pair of brothers whose last name was Mendoza. Winemaking, however, didn’t start until the 19th century when some would-be gold miners decided it was more profitable to make wine than to pan for gold. Italian immigrants in the late 19th century continued to establish winemaking ventures.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
