RATINGS

94James Suckling

Very fresh white-peach, gooseberry and floral nose with some real complexity. Very succulent and concentrated with a long, salty and minerally finish that is vibrant enough to wake the dead.

91The Wine Advocate

...little bit of sulfides on the nose with struck match scents over a core of lemon curd, ripe pears and peach kernels with touches of dried herbs and baking bread. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing with phenolic grip and a long, mineral finish.

91Wine Spectator

This ripples with a mix of mirabelle plum, white peach, yellow apple and acacia flavors, delivering a long, pure finish that has a lovely verbena echo.

16.5Jancis Robinson

Yoghurt, lemon curd, perhaps a hint of honey. Broad, soft, some mealy notes. Lovely cereal character to finish. The oak is really nicely integrated, giving a distinctive style without being intrusive.

REGION

France, Bordeaux, Pauillac

Pauillac is Bordeaux’s most famous appellation, thanks to the fact that it is home to three of the region’s fabled first-growth châteaux, Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton-Rothschild and Latour. Perched on the left bank of the Gironde River north of the city of Bordeaux, Pauillac is centered around the commune of Pauillac and includes about 3,000 acres of vineyards. The Bordeaux classification of 1855 named 18 classified growths, including the three above mentioned First Growths. Cabernet Sauvignon is the principal grape grown, followed by Merlot. The soil is mostly sandy gravel mixed with marl and iron. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that “the textbook Pauillac would tend to have a rich, full-bodied texture, a distinctive bouquet of black currants, licorice and cedary scents, and excellent aging potential.”
