RATINGS

95James Suckling

A perfumed and spicy wine with ripe strawberries, smoke and chocolate. Full, very savory and intense. Long aftertaste with lots of perfume. Fine, creamy texture. Really spicy at the finish.

93Wine Spectator

Classy, this pliant, succulent red boasts black cherry, raspberry, floral and spice flavors. It's firm and focused, with a silky texture and lingering notes of fruit and spice.

92-94Vinous / IWC

...very pure, charming bouquet of layers of dark cherry, raspberry coulis and blueberry aromas, with just a touch of warmth from the slightly higher level of alcohol. The medium-bodied palate delivers saturated tannins. Lush and generous...caressing finish. Lovely.

91The Wine Advocate

...aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries and violets mingled with subtle hints of espresso roast and chocolate, it's medium to full-bodied, lavish and fleshy, with a voluptuous core of fruit that's framed by velvety tannins and succulent acids.

16.5+ Jancis Robinson

...sweet fruit on the palate – almost glacé-cherry notes...hint of cherry cough sweets. Nicely ripe tannins.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Le Clos Des Mouches

Le Clos de Mouches is a 62-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Beaune, in Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. Though Beaune has no Grand Crus, it has 44 vineyards that are either entirely or partly Premier Cru. Le Clos de Mouches is located in the southern third of the appellation, and like many of its neighbors, it faces nearly due east.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
