Estimate
The 2014 Zinfandel Dina’s Vineyard (350 case) displays loads of minerality compared to some of the other ones, with a huge concentration of black fruits, roasted Mediterranean herbs, spice box, licorice and some pepper and meat. This is a powerful, full-throttle Zinfandel to drink over the next 7-8 years.
Tightly focused and balanced, with aromas of boysenberry, mint and crushed stone. Features deep, complex flavors of plum and blueberry, accented by hints of fresh anise, mineral and fresh white pepper. The tannins are big but ripe. Needs time. Best from 2018 through 2026. 345 cases made.
A bold, immediate wine, the 2014 Zinfandel Dina's Vineyard offers plenty of up-front intensity and concentration. Dark cherry, blueberry, spice and menthol are all pushed forward. There is not shortage of depth or intensity, but I find fewer shades of dimension and a bit less to engage the senses than in some of the other wines. The 2014 Dina's is delicious, but the competition is pretty intense in this range of superb Zinfandels from Hartford.
