RATINGS

94James Suckling

...upfront red fruit and delicate earthiness...wonderfully lively finish.

92-94The Wine Advocate

...an elegant, nicely concentrated wine that offers up notes of cherries, red berries, rose petals, orange rind and spicy oak. Medium to full-bodied, with refined tannins and lively acids...

91-93Burghound.com

A more restrained and cooler nose reluctantly offers up its aromas poached plum, various red berries and warm earth. The more mineral-driven and slightly finer middle weight flavors are at once refined but punchy while delivering strikingly good depth and persistence on the powerful and moderately austere finale.

88-90Vinous / IWC

...glossier and riper on the the nose...eins of blue fruit and vanilla pod infusing the red cherries...medium-bodied with a fleshy opening, a velvety texture and red cherry and strawberry flavors...

16+ Jancis Robinson

...a very smooth, fruity palate with a hint of red, hard candy. Lots of sweetness and easy appeal.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Aux Cras

Aux Cras is a 12.5-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the commune of Beaune, in Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. Beaune is the Cote d’Or’s third largest commune. Beaune has no Grand Crus but has 44 vineyards that are either entirely or partly Premier Cru. Aux Cras is located in the center of the appellation, adjacent to Les Teurons and Aux Coucherias, and is higher up the slope than its neighbors. Writer Clive Coates has written that this central area of Beaune, including Aux Cras, “is where you will find the finest examples of premier cru in Beaune.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
