RATINGS

94Vinous / IWC

Precision and vibrancy are the signatures in a wine that pulses with energy from the very first taste. Readers who enjoy precise, finely sculpted Burgundies will find much to admire here.

92-94The Wine Advocate

Vibrant raspberry and fresh strawberry bouquet that is very harmonious and pretty, with fine delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. It is embroidered with a fine line of acidity

92Stephen Tanzer

Reserved nose shows dark berries and crushed stone. Sappy and rich... Flavors of blueberry and smoky minerals are joined by a note of caramel oak on the very long, fine-grained finish, which features serious but smooth tannins.

92Burghound.com

A pungently intense minerality to the tension-filled, linear and driving medium weight flavors that exhibit fine length on the mildly austere and restrained finish. The complexity here is remarkable and I very much admire the harmony

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits Villages, Vosne-Romanee, Les Beaux Monts

Les Beaux Monts is a 28.6-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Vosne-Romanee appellation of Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. It is on the northern edge of the appellation, bordering Flagey-Echezeaux. The vineyard has a southern exposure, and the soil is part clay and marl. It is one of the largest of Vosne-Romanee’s Premier Crus. Clive Coates calls Les Beaux Monts “a nice big wine, but nonetheless perfumed, full of finesse, even lush.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
