RATINGS

93+ Stephen Tanzer

Knockout soil-driven nose combines red cherry, raspberry, minerals, rose petal and violet. Juicy, tightly wound and sharply delineated; no shortage of viscosity here but the wine's density is leavened by sappy mineral-driven acidity and salinity. Has more than enough extract to buffer its firm but suave tannins on the very long, rising finish...outstanding energy and grip...

91-93Burghound.com

An ultra-spicy and markedly floral nose is comprised by notes of maraschino cherry, pomegranate and violet scents. The seductive yet powerful medium-bodied flavors possess excellent mid-palate density on the lightly mineral-inflected, mouth coating and impressively long finish that displays excellent depth...it's so well-balanced.

90-92The Wine Advocate

...a tightly knit bouquet with hints of licorice infusing the mixture of red and black fruit, again, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with pastille-like purity, very fine and almost weightless tannin that means this really just glides across the mouth, with just sufficient edginess on the finish to maintain tension. This is a sensual Aux Brûlées.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits Villages, Vosne-Romanee, Les Brulees

Les Brulees is an 11.25-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Vosne-Romanee appellation of Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. Though it is divided by a road, the vineyard enjoys both a southeastern and northeastern exposure. Clive Coates calls Les Brulees “wine with backbone, richness and depth in a particularly masculine way.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
