RATINGS

93-95Vinous / IWC

...perfumed and floral bouquet of shimmering black cherry and cassis fruit infused with iris and peony. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, beautifully pitched acidity and a silky-smooth, precise finish.

92-94The Wine Advocate

...displays aromas of sweet wild berries, licorice, smoked meats, burning embers and candied peel. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and textural with good depth and dimension at the core, concluding with a long, gourmand finish.

92-94Burghound.com

...essence of red currant, rose petal and discreet spice nuances that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The round and transparent medium weight plus flavors possess fine precision on the balanced and markedly firm finish that displays excellent length.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits-Villages, Flagey-Echezeaux, Echezeaux

Echezeaux is a 93-acre Grand Cru vineyard on the southern edge of the Cote de Nuits. It up the slope from Clos de Vougeot and Grands Echezeaux and is one of the largest grand crus in Burgundy. The vineyard varies in elevation from 250 to 300 meters, and the terroir includes significant clay as well as thin, rocky soil. The largest proprietors are Domaine de la Romanee Conti, with 11.68 acres; Mongeard-Mugneret with 6.25 acres, and Emmanuel-Rouget, with 3.58 acres. Echezeaux produces red wine.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
