RATINGS

92Wine Spectator

A fresh fruit and pure berry expression of Petite, with flavors of raspberry, huckleberry and pepper that are crisp and refreshing, with good purity to the core of fruit, showing tobacco accents and a smoky black tea note.

91Stephen Tanzer

Smoky, spice-laced black and blue fruit liqueur aromas are lifted and sharpened by a mineral nuance and a touch of white pepper. Offers appealingly sweet, expansive boysenberry and cassis flavors... Dusty tannins give grip to a lingering finish of excellent, spicy intensity.

90Wine Enthusiast

Here's a polished Petite Sirah that's soft and richly tannic. It's forward with classic blackberry, currant, grilled meat, black pepper and cedar flavors...with rich stews, game and hard cheeses...

TYPE

Red Wine, Petite Sirah

Despite its popularity, this grape is quite rare. Less than 10,000 acres are planted worldwide, with the bulk in California. In France, the grape is referred to as Durif. Not to be confused with Syrah, Petite Sirah is a cross of Syrah and Peloursin. The result is darker and fuller.
