RATINGS

95Wine Enthusiast

Delicately layered, it is floral on the nose and crisp in red fruit on the lengthy palate, and offers a tremendous amount of structure, balance and grace.

95Jeb Dunnuck

...nose of mulled red and black fruits, forest floor, conifer, and spiced orange...medium-bodied...with wonderful purity of fruit, a pure, precise texture, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish.

94Vinous / IWC

The aromatics alone are captivating. Rose petal, blood orange, mint, star anise and sweet red berry fruit literally soar out of the glass. The balance of fruit, aromatics and structure is beguiling...impressive.

94James Suckling

A herbaceous nose of sage and roasted rosemary with notes of leather and lots of ripe red fruit as well. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and fine, well-integrated tannins. Rich and lush fruit coats the palate, together with a lovely note of fresh mint. Long finish.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
