RATINGS

92The Wine Advocate

Firm yet beautifully integrated tannins frame an expressive core of fruit in this striking wine. The warmth of the year has given the Boucherottes an extra dimension of fleshiness that is hugely attractive.

88-91Stephen Tanzer

Nose combines some superripe notes with hints of pepper, fresh herbs and flinty minerality. Then ripe, broad and sweet on the palate, with good lift to the black cherry and spicy oak flavors.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Les Boucherottes

Les Boucherottes is a 22-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the appellation of Beaune, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. It is on the southern edge of the appellation, on a gentle slope that faces east. It is one of Beaune’s 44 vineyards that is either partly or entirely Premier Cru. Beaune has no Grand Cru.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
