RATINGS

98Jeb Dunnuck

...close to 80% Grenache with the balance Syrah and Mourvèdre, that was 50% destemmed and brought up in just 35% new French oak. Rocking levels of cassis, black raspberries, cured meats, and ground pepper all emerge from the glass, and it’s full-bodied and ethereal, with incredible purity of fruit. Hat off to this young winemaker for a world-class example of Grenache!

94Vinous / IWC

...another gorgeous wine in this range from Nikolas and Julia Krankl. Deep, pliant and super-expressive, the Grenache is a sumptuous, incredibly inviting wine. Succulent red cherry, spice, leather, tobacco and cedar all meld together in this striking, elegant Grenache. The 2017 is 79% Grenache, 11% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah from The Third Twin and Bien Nacido vineyards...

93-95+ The Wine Advocate

...strides confidently out of the glass with bold expressions of blackberry pie, warm plums, black cherries and mulberries plus touches of tar, garrigue, dried herbs and cracked pepper. Full-bodied and firmly structured with ripe, rounded tannins, it is packed with loads of vibrant black and blue fruits, revealing a spicy kick on the finish. Only 100 cases were made.

TYPE

Red Wine, Grenache

One of the most popular red varieties planted, it ripens late and prefers hot dry climates. It probably originated in Spain, where it is still widely grown. Grenache is best known for its use in Southern Rhone wines, including those of Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
