RATINGS

93Robert M. Parker Jr.

...kinky nose of wet wool, earth, rocks, and minerals...Pure lemon, stone, toast, and clay flavors are found in this profound, broad, expansive, and admirably persistent wine...exceedingly well-balanced, refined, muscular, and ageworthy...

91Wine Spectator

Toasty, ripe and delightful, offering a mouthful of full flavors and honey, pineapple, pear and smoke notes. Harmonious and clean, with a long, satisfying finish.

90Stephen Tanzer

Complex nose combines citrus notes, spring flowers and an oily, nutty aspect. Fresh, bright and pure; appears to possess more natural acidity than the foregoing wines. Vibrant for the year, and delicious already.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet, En Cailleret

En Cailleret is a 50-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Chassagne-Montrachet in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. It is one of 51 Premier Crus in the appellation and it lies between 250 and 300 meters. The vineyard faces southeast. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that “Chassagne-Montrachet is a treasure trove for outstanding Premier Cru vineyards. In fact, certain Premiers Crus…often achieve Grand Cru status in quality if not in name.”

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, 1er (Premier) Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
