Fresh, sappy aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, licorice and sandalwood. Highly concentrated, liqueur-like black fruit flavors are enlivened by a peppery quality and framed by racy acidity.

The 2000 Zinfandel Forchini South Knoll, a 230-case cuvee, tastes like blueberry and raspberry liqueur intermixed with kirsch and floral notes. It is full-bodied, with whopping power in the finish (15.8% alcohol).

Zinfandel is a black-skinned grape, but 85% of the wine produced is made into a rosy “White Zinfandel.” Red Zin is far more complex and bold, while still being light-bodied. It grows in popularity as winemakers continue to experiment with new styles and blends.
