RATINGS

96Vinous / IWC

...super-classic... Apricot, candied orange peel, mint, butter and tropical accents all flesh out in this opulent, full-throttle Chardonnay.

95The Wine Advocate

...intense aromas of guava, honeycomb and beeswax with quince paste, apple pie, nutmeg, clove and warm yellow peaches with notes of hay, crushed stone and oodles of chamomile character. Medium-bodied and wonderfully savory/toasty in the mouth, it offers great intensity, juicy acidity and a long, honey-nut finish.

95James Suckling

...excellent structure, depth and length. Aromas of grilled lemons and peaches with a fresh array of toasted nuts and spices. The palate has great composure and impressive, ripe peaches. Long and concentrated.

95+ Jeb Dunnuck

...complex, spicy style in its white peach, flowers, cumin, and baking spice-driven aromas and flavors...has notable concentration, the bright acidity of the vintage, terrific mid-palate depth, and a great finish.

93Wine Spectator

Plush and spicy, with a creamy texture to the blend of ripe white fruit and citrus flavors. Notes of brioche show midpalate, revealing rich toasty and buttery details on the unctuous finish.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Carneros

Carneros AVA, also known as Los Carneros, is at the southern end of the Napa and Sonoma Valleys at the top of the San Francisco Bay. The 8,000 vineyard acres are mostly planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, both of which thrive in the district’s cool, marine climate. Carneros became an AVA in 1983 and it has attracted foreign wine companies along with local producers. It has been especially appealing to European producers of sparkling wines including the giant Spanish cava producers Codorniu and Frexinet, and the French Champagne house Taittinger. Codorniu in Carneros is called Artesa, and Frexinet’s Carneros brand is Gloria Ferrer. Taittinger calls its Carneros winery Domaine Carneros. The European producers also make still wines in Carneros.

TYPE
