RATINGS

99+ Robert M. Parker Jr.

...It is stunningly opulent, fat, and super-concentrated, but the luxurious fruit tends to conceal some rather formidable tannins in the finish. This is an amazing wine...

98Wine Spectator

This is pure, unadulterated Cabernet, with a gorgeously creamy mouthfeel to the beam of cassis that’s backed by extra layers of cherry eau de vie, red licorice and raspberry ganache. Obviously dense but amazingly supple...

98James Suckling

Super fruity and layered with incredible depth and length. Currants, plums, dried strawberries and cherries. Full body, soft and round tannins and gorgeous fruit. Sexy and voluptuous.

97Vinous / IWC

...unfolding reluctantly with cedar and pencil box infused black fruit. Glimpses of pressed rose petal unfurl with continued aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a mixture of red and black fruit, and veins of blue. Very harmonious with a satin-like texture towards the persistent finish.

93-94John Gilman

The bouquet is deep, suave and quite “luxe” in its aromatic profile of black cherries, a touch of raspberry, coffee, Cuban tobacco, lovely soil tones and plenty of suave, nutty new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, very refined and polished, with a rock solid core of fruit, plenty of ripe tannins and impeccable focus and balance on the very long, suave and intensely flavored finish. A fine, fine Mouton.

18Jancis Robinson

Superb openness and opulence on the nose, with black cherry, violet, liquorice, bitter chocolate and fine-grained tannins. Long finish still driven by fruit...

REGION

France, Bordeaux, Pauillac

Pauillac is Bordeaux’s most famous appellation, thanks to the fact that it is home to three of the region’s fabled first-growth châteaux, Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton-Rothschild and Latour. Perched on the left bank of the Gironde River north of the city of Bordeaux, Pauillac is centered around the commune of Pauillac and includes about 3,000 acres of vineyards. The Bordeaux classification of 1855 named 18 classified growths, including the three above mentioned First Growths. Cabernet Sauvignon is the principal grape grown, followed by Merlot. The soil is mostly sandy gravel mixed with marl and iron. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that “the textbook Pauillac would tend to have a rich, full-bodied texture, a distinctive bouquet of black currants, licorice and cedary scents, and excellent aging potential.”
