RATINGS

100Jeb Dunnuck

...full-bodied blockbuster of a wine that’s loaded with cassis and blue fruits as well as notes of gravelly earth, graphite, ground pepper, and spring flowers. Flawlessly balanced, deep, super-rich, and unctuous, yet with incredible purity...

99The Wine Advocate

...baker’s chocolate, kirsch, blackberry preserves, juicy black cherries and mulberries, leading to fragranced notions of lilacs, bouquet garni and clove oil, plus earthy/savory notes of crushed rocks and salami. Full-bodied, the palate delivers generous black and red fruit preserves flavors, wrapped in the most gorgeous velvety texture and lifted by just enough freshness, finishing long and beautifully poised.

95Vinous / IWC

Black fruit, chocolate, spice, new leather and licorice are all dialed up.

REGION

United States, California, Central Coast

Central Coast AVA is a huge wine producing area that extends from Santa Barbara County in the south to San Francisco in the north. With more than 100,000 vineyard acres, it includes parts of six counties near the Pacific Ocean. Nearly 20 smaller AVAs lie within the Central Coast AVA. Central Coast earned appellation status in 1985. Included in the appellation are parts of the counties of Contra Costa, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz. Nearly every grape varietal grown in California is grown somewhere in the Central Coast AVA, though Chardonnay accounts for nearly 50% of the entire wine grape crop.
