RATINGS

93Stephen Tanzer

Pale, green-tinged color. Musky aromas of vineyard peach, quinine, ginger, snap pea, petrol and wet stone, with hints of exotic fruits. Large-scaled and rich but very unevolved. An impressively expansive wine...

92The Wine Advocate

It explodes from the glass with gloriously ripe pears and apples that are coated with minerals. On the palate, this wine displays seashells, minerals, and spices. Satin-textured and powerful, it possesses a stunningly long, pure, and expressive finish.

89-92Burghound.com

Intense oyster shell, iodine and green fruit aromas lead to mouth coating, rich, pure and wonderfully intense flavors of considerable power and this has the size, weight and length of a grand cru. ...should be capable of aging for years...

REGION

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Montee de Tonnerre

Montee de Tonnerre is a 15-acre Premier Cru parcel just east of the village of Chablis and just south of the Grand Crus. Montee de Tonnerre includes the important climats of Chapelot, Les Chapelots, Pied d’Aloup and Coted de Brechain. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that “in blind tastings, this microparcel is often judged to be a Grand Cru. It is regrettable that its reputation is not better known…” The soil is a mixture of limestone, clay and fossilized oyster shells.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, Chablis Premier Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
