RATINGS

90Robert M. Parker Jr.

A stunning 1987, this wine's bouquet offers the earthy, saddle leather, meaty, red fruit aromas of Pinot Noir. In the mouth, there is rich, sweet fruit touched with herbaceousness, medium body, and a long, velvety finish.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, Clos Des Reas

Clos des Reas is a 5.25-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Vosne-Romanee, in Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. The walled vineyard is a monopole of Domaine Michel Gros. Clive Coates has written that the vineyard “is a very good one” producing “wine that is not a heavyweight, but has the pure fragrance of Pinot Noir at its most elegant.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
