RATINGS

93The Wine Advocate

...opens with a nose of charcuterie, salted nuts and dried herbs over a core of lemon curd, fresh peaches and hay. The medium-bodied palate delivers loads of savory layers, matched by a lively backbone and satiny texture, finishing long with herb and nut layers.

93-94Vinous / IWC

Fresh lime, quince, white flowers and dusty minerals on the powerfully scented nose. Bright, sharply focused citrus and orchard fruit flavors stain the palate and are complemented by a suave honeysuckle quality. Racy and precise on the strikingly persistent finish, which leaves behind bitter citrus zest, mineral and floral notes.

93Jeb Dunnuck

It’s a rich, beautifully layered and textured white... Exotic/tropical notes of orange blossom, caramelized lemons, wood smoke and spice give way to a medium to full-bodied, clean, impeccably balanced white that has plenty of density and length.

91Wine Enthusiast

Lemon butter and plump pineapple aromas are cut by crushed gravel and an edgy citrus peel character on the nose... The Roussanne provides a rich midpalate, full of fleshy but not overripe baked apple flavors, dusted with baking spice and leveled by buoyant acidity.

90Wine Spectator

Focused on fruity peach, mandarin orange and pineapple flavors, with a juicy, smooth core. Floral highlights, along with matcha green tea and fennel accents, are harmonious and lovely on the smooth and crunchy finish.

REGION

United States, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles

Paso Robles AVA is midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, and it is considered one of the West Coast’s most exciting winemaking regions. With its hot, sometimes searingly dry and sunny weather, it is especially good country for growing warm climate grapes such as Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. Because many Paso Robles wineries have been successful with blending these grapes into Rhone Valley-style wines, it is known as the Rhone zone of California. The AVA was created in 1983 and there are 32,000 vineyard acres. In late 2014 the AVA was divided into 11 smaller sub-appellations, so starting with 2015 vintages labeling will become more specific on Paso Robles wines, which will now also list sub-appellations. Located in San Luis Obispo County, Paso Robles, the town and its surrounding area, was traditionally a farming and ranching region. But from a few dozen wineries in the early 1990s to more than 200 today, the area is quickly becoming known for wine and risk-taking winemakers.
