RATINGS

98+ Robert M. Parker Jr.

This is an extraordinary performance once again... laser-like definition in its an remarkable nose of a subtle charcoal fire interwoven with spring flowers, creme de cassis, blueberry liqueur and spicy wood... stunningly concentrated...

96Wine Spectator

Gorgeous, with alluring black tea & warm ganache notes that unfurl slowly, while the core of intense steeped plum, anise, blackberry compote & black currant confiture sits patiently in reserve... remarkable polish and grace.

95James Suckling

Aromas of blueberries, blackberries and plums follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a fruity finish. Lots of mushroom and fruit undertones. Very polished.

94+ Stephen Tanzer

Very ripe yet precise nose offers blueberry, black raspberry, violet, spices and sexy dried herbs. Rich, pliant and hugely deep, with near-chocolatey ripeness to the highly concentrated dark berry, tobacco and spice flavors.

18Jancis Robinson

Notably dark, dense crimson. Fragrant. Really very impressive. Lots of richness but not sweetness. Layers of exciting flavour. Subtle. Great stuff.

REGION

France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Pessac-Léognan was created in 1987 from the northern part of the left bank Graves appellation. Before then it was simply part of Graves, or sometimes it was called Haut-Graves. Unlike many other Bordeaux appellations, Pessac-Léognan is known for both red and dry white wines, although its reds are more famous. The appellation includes ten communes and the area’s most important châteaux, including Château Haut-Brion, the only non-Médoc estate included in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. There are 2,964 acres of vineyards in Pessac-Léognan and 16 classified growth estates. The main red grapes grown are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, along with a small amount of Cabernet Franc. White grapes grown are Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, with a little Muscadelle. Pessac-Léognan is considered to have the best terroir of the greater Graves region.
