RATINGS

94Wine Enthusiast

Generous tannins are already integrating with the rich fruits that come through strongly. The juicy blackberry character to this wine shows concentration.

94Jeb Dunnuck

...offers notable purity as well as medium to full-bodied notes of blackcurrants, dried herbs, flowers, and spice. It’s a layered, seamless wine from this estate that has no hard edges, beautiful balance, and a great finish.

93Vinous / IWC

...gorgeous, supple and wonderfully inviting...there is quite a bit of supporting structure that gives the wine its energy and overall shape. Smoke, tobacco, cedar, licorice and leather add aromatic nuance, but it is the wine's textural depth that stands out most.

91The Wine Advocate

...comes bursting out of the glass with cassis, redcurrant jelly, fragrant earth and dried Provence herbs scents plus a waft of lavender. Medium to full-bodied, firm, grainy textured and packed with fruit, it delivers a long and mineral-laced finish.

91James Suckling

...with berry and tobacco character and hints of walnuts. Medium body, round and juicy tannins and a medium finish.

90Wine Spectator

Polished and open in feel, with a lovely beam of pure plum and raspberry puree flavors inlaid with light tobacco and toasty vanilla notes. Subtle mesquite detail shows on the finish.

REGION

France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Pessac-Léognan was created in 1987 from the northern part of the left bank Graves appellation. Before then it was simply part of Graves, or sometimes it was called Haut-Graves. Unlike many other Bordeaux appellations, Pessac-Léognan is known for both red and dry white wines, although its reds are more famous. The appellation includes ten communes and the area’s most important châteaux, including Château Haut-Brion, the only non-Médoc estate included in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. There are 2,964 acres of vineyards in Pessac-Léognan and 16 classified growth estates. The main red grapes grown are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, along with a small amount of Cabernet Franc. White grapes grown are Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, with a little Muscadelle. Pessac-Léognan is considered to have the best terroir of the greater Graves region.
