RATINGS

94Wine Spectator

Powerful, bold, creamy and generous, with plenty of vanilla, mocha, dill and cedar notes forming a base for the juicy black cherry and plum flavors. Velvety, smoky and fragrant on the finish, which lingers effortlessly.

94Vinous / IWC

Powerful scents of cherry compote, cassis, fruitcake, vanilla and floral pastilles, with notes of pipe tobacco and cedary oak adding complexity. Deeply concentrated, oak-spiced dark berry and bitter cherry flavors stain the palate, with juicy acidity giving the wine an impressively energetic character...finishing with powerful thrust...chewy tannins and strikingly persistent sweetness.

93The Wine Advocate

...scents of cassis, warn blackberries and cedar with suggestions of pencil lead, black soil and dried herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the solidly built palate has great concentration and generous fruit...

92James Suckling

This is brimming with formic aromas, that crushed ant and coconut oil smell, black cherry fruits, cedar...

REGION

Australia, South Australia

South Australia is the nation’s most important wine region. South Australia is to Australia what California is to the U.S. About half of Australia’s wine comes from South Australia and many of the country’s most acclaimed producers are there. Wineries based in South Australia include Penfolds Grange, Torbreck, Amon Ra, Henschke and Jacob’s Creek. The prestigious Barossa Valley is located in South Australia, and is often compared to Napa Valley because it is gorgeous topography covered in grape vines. First farmed by 19th century German-speakers who immigrated from what is now Poland, the Barossa Valley is the crown jewel of the region. South Australia has widely varying climates, from very hot, dry areas to cooler, high altitude areas. There are more than 150,000 acres of vineyards in South Australia, with more being planted each month. Shiraz is king, though the region also produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Mourvedre, Chardonnay and Semillon.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
