RATINGS

97James Suckling

Wonderfully complex nose in this white with ripe lemon, green papaya, lime peel and lots of ripe yellow peach. Full and focused, it offers a beautiful ripe acidity and silky texture on the palate. Long and precise finish...

92-95Robert M. Parker Jr.

Another phenomenal wine from the Cathiards, this rich 2010 exhibits lemon custard, melon, tropical fruit and a touch of smoky oak.

92-95Wine Spectator

A step ahead of the pack, with a lovely caressed feel and a toasted macadamia nut frame to the large core of yellow plum, straw and verbena notes. Offers a gorgeous feel on the finish. Long.

91-94Vinous / IWC

..Explosive on entry, then sweet and dense in the middle palate, with tropical fruit and fresh herb flavors nicely lifted and extended by lively acidity. Finishes with a repeating smoky mineral character, excellent length and complexity...

17.5Jancis Robinson

Creamy rich on the nose. Very broad and majestic on the palate – much richer than the 2008. Very neat and should have a good long life. Relatively opulent.

REGION

France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Pessac-Léognan was created in 1987 from the northern part of the left bank Graves appellation. Before then it was simply part of Graves, or sometimes it was called Haut-Graves. Unlike many other Bordeaux appellations, Pessac-Léognan is known for both red and dry white wines, although its reds are more famous. The appellation includes ten communes and the area’s most important châteaux, including Château Haut-Brion, the only non-Médoc estate included in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. There are 2,964 acres of vineyards in Pessac-Léognan and 16 classified growth estates. The main red grapes grown are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, along with a small amount of Cabernet Franc. White grapes grown are Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, with a little Muscadelle. Pessac-Léognan is considered to have the best terroir of the greater Graves region.
