RATINGS

92Wine Spectator

Dark fruit flavors of black currant and blackberry grace this velvety red, whose dusty tannins and acidity keep it focused and lingering. Balanced in a large-scaled way...

90The Wine Advocate

...lovely intensity in its dark fruit, licorice, menthol and sweet spices...captures the essence of the vintage, especially in its open, textured finish.

89-92Stephen Tanzer

...aromas of black cherry, minerals, menthol and licorice, plus a whiff of meat. Silky and chocolatey...middle-palate stuffing to support its broad, ripe tannins.

17Jancis Robinson

Serious stuff. Firm... Dry finish but the fruit is sufficient for the structure.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, Les Chaumes

Les Chaumes is a 16.1-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Vosne-Romanee appellation of Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. Located on the appellation’s southern boundary, it is just to the west of Aux Malconsorts. The slight slope of the vineyard makes for good drainage, and the soil is a rich mix of clay and alluvial soil.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
