RATINGS

94The Wine Advocate

...wafts from the glass with a complex bouquet that mingles notes of cherries and raspberries with nuances of warm spices and smoked meats. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with an ample chassis of powdery tannin, ripe acids and a concentrated core of fruit...

94Vinous / IWC

...expansive, highly complex bouquet evokes fresh, mineral-accented cherry and boysenberry, along with building floral and exotic spice notes. Stains the palate with sweet red/blue fruit, lavender pastille and spicecake flavors that deepen steadily on the back half. Delivers a suave blend of richness and energy and finishes very long and juicy, displaying harmonious tannins, resonating florality and a late touch of earthiness.

REGION

France, Beaujolais, Fleurie

Fleurie is a village located near the center of Beaujolais, and the Beaujolais Cru appellation named for it encompasses nearly 2,000 acres of vineyards. Many admirers of Beaujolais consider the Fleurie appellation to be one of the best, if not the best, of the Cru appellations and its wines are generally lush and aromatic. Some 500,000 cases are produced annually. Like nearly everywhere else in Beaujolais, the only grape grown is Gamay. Fleurie the village is charming and quaint and attracts many tourists.

TYPE

Red Wine, Gamay, Cru Beaujolais

The Gamay grape produces a light, versatile and food-friendly wine. It is best known for making Beaujolais Nouveau, but it is also grown in Loire and Tours. Thankfully the 14th C. Duke of Burgundy’s degree to ban the grape did not spread through all of France.
