RATINGS

93+ The Wine Advocate

...provocative violet-laced black cherry and blackberry notes over hints of black pepper, cinnamon stick, licorice and orange peel. Full-bodied, concentrated and laden with fresh, energetic black berry and spice box flavors, it has a firm frame of ripe, rounded tannins and well-played freshness, finishing long and perfumed.

93Jeb Dunnuck

...forward, seductive array of sweet cherries, black raspberries, peppery herbs and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, silky and seamless, the wine has a great texture...

92Wine Enthusiast

Black currant, plum skins and roasted pork aromas show on the nose of this Syrah that's enhanced by Grenache, Petite Sirah, Viognier and Roussanne. Char siu flavors meet with lilacs, violets, charred beef and roasted plums on the palate.

REGION

United States, California, Central Coast

Central Coast AVA is a huge wine producing area that extends from Santa Barbara County in the south to San Francisco in the north. With more than 100,000 vineyard acres, it includes parts of six counties near the Pacific Ocean. Nearly 20 smaller AVAs lie within the Central Coast AVA. Central Coast earned appellation status in 1985. Included in the appellation are parts of the counties of Contra Costa, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz. Nearly every grape varietal grown in California is grown somewhere in the Central Coast AVA, though Chardonnay accounts for nearly 50% of the entire wine grape crop.
