RATINGS

93Burghound.com

There is excellent richness to the round and relatively powerful medium weight flavors blessed with an abundance of dry extract that buffers the otherwise very firm, long and serious finish.

91Wine Spectator

A spice-infused red, with a cherry core. Dense and well-structured, picking up savory and mineral elements on the finish. The tight structure needs time to resolve.

91+ Stephen Tanzer

Rich and full, offering considerable fat to its ripe flavors of redcurrant, musky herbs, smoke and game.

17Jancis Robinson

Very lifted and aromatic. Polished and sophisticated. Lots of sweet fruit but with a much finer texture. Very complete and already open. One of the finest, most elegant reds from this address.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Les Greves

Les Greves is a 75-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the central part of the Beaune appellation, in Burgundy's Cote de Beaune. Though Beaune has no Grand Cru vineyards, it has 44 vineyards that are either partly or completely Premier Cru. Clive Coates has written that in the central section of the Beaune appellation is “where you will find the finest examples of premier cru in Beaune.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
