RATINGS

94-96Robert M. Parker Jr.

Dense, ripe notes of blackcurrants, black raspberries and cherries are intermixed with lychee nut and apricot notes. With great intensity, full-bodied opulence, sweet tannin and a layered, lush, heady mouthfeel...

91Wine Spectator

Appealing, with a distinctively savory quality, offering aromas of blueberry and loamy white pepper and zesty, layered flavors of smoky raspberry, grilled anise and dark Asian spice. The tannins are big but ripe.

91-94Vinous / IWC

Rose petals, mint, juniper berries, flowers & sweet dark cherries open up in the glass, but it is the expressive, lifted aromatics that are front & center today. There is no shortage of personality in this highly individualistic Syrah...

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Syrah (Shiraz)

This grape is grown in milder climates and produces a medium-to full-bodied wine. It is also known as Shiraz, but should not be confused with Petit Sirah, which was developed by crossing Syrah with Peloursin.
