RATINGS

95Wine Enthusiast

Showing its coastal influences, this elegant wine offers black raspberry, plum and cola, with underlying freshness that persists on the lengthy palate. Rounded and showing a balanced richness, it impresses in its complexity and cohesion.

94The Wine Advocate

...broody on the nose with scents of graphite, woodsmoke, turned earth and licorice over a core of black berry fruit. The palate is soft, spicy, fresh and open with layered, spicy fruits and a long, earth-laced finish.

93Wine Spectator

Lithe, with mouthfilling juiciness to the concentrated red currant and cherry flavors, which are supported by silky tannins and crunchy acidity. Finishes with sandalwood, slate and cooking spice accents.

92Vinous / IWC

...very pretty wine. Holiday spice cake, blood orange, mint, star anise and sweet dried cherry lend striking aromatic nuance. Medium in body, silky and also wonderfully refined, with striking mineral-infused drive... All the elements are so nicely balanced. What an attractive wine this is.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
