What are wine "futures?"
When buying wines as "futures" you are purchasing an allocation of wine that is not yet bottled.
The time required to bottle and release wine sold on a futures basis depends on many factors, including
the varietal, the region of origin and the winemaker's style. Some wines, such as Bordeaux, may be sold
as futures two to three years before release. Individual futures offerings include information about the
approximate release date.
What are "pre-arrival" wines?
When buying wines on "pre-arrival" basis you are purchasing a specific bottle of wine that is not yet
in our Napa Valley warehouse. WineBid.com often auctions wines that come directly from Europe. After such
wines are purchased it takes several months to ship them from Europe to our Napa Valley warehouse and on
to the buyer.
