$40,000 and up for 11 bottles of wine
If you can’t be bothered to go to new week’s Auction Napa Valley but still want to spend your children’s inheritance, WineBid.com is auctioning off an entire vertical of Screaming Eagle, the cult Napa Valley Cabernet that sells for $500 a bottle to people on its mailing list and regularly goes for double that if you can find it. The 11-bottle set has one wine from each vintage from the winery’s first, 1992, thought he most recent, 2003. (No 2000 was produced.) The reserve for the auction, which is set from Sunday through June 10, is $40,000.
Of you could buy a Harley-Davidson limited-edition Screamin’ Eagle Road King motorcycle for about $30,000 and still have enough left over for 11 bottles of just about any other wine in the world.
