TWO BUCK CHUCK SELLS FOR $85 ON AUCTION AT WINEBID.COMĀ®

Napa California: WineBid.com, the premier Internet wine auction, recently auctioned a case of Charles Shaw wine, the inexpensive wine known as Two Buck Chuck. This wine, retailing for approximately $2 per bottle, is a marketing phenomenon that's been discussed by everyone from The New York Times to Wine Spectator.

One 12-bottle case of Two Buck Chuck was placed on auction at WineBid.com from June 19 through June 29. Eight bidders competed for the mixed case of Charles Shaw wines. At the end of the 10-day online auction, the successful bidder paid $85, which includes the hammer price plus the buyer's premium, to find out what all the Two Buck Chuck hype has been about.

"At WineBid.com, our goal is to offer our customers not only fine and rare collectable wines but also the latest the wine world has to offer. Since distribution for Charles Shaw wine is limited to Trader Joe's discount food stores, auctioning a case of Charles Shaw gave our customers the opportunity to obtain these wines," said Jerry Zech, WineBid.com's Chief Executive Officer.

WineBid.com is not only for collectors. Wine enthusiasts can bid on wines ranging from $20 to $2,000 a bottle. WineBid.com offers first growth Bordeaux, wine futures and hard-to-find historic vintages.

Founded in 1996, WineBid.com is the largest online wine auction with more than 25,000 registered bidders. At WineBid.com each bottle of wine is appraised, inspected and stored in our climate controlled warehouse in Napa, California.
