WineBid.com auction features 3,000-bottle collection from world's most prestigious wineries
Napa California: WineBid.com www.winebid.com the world's leading online auction of rare and
collectible wines, is this month offering an extraordinary 3000-bottle collection of top-rated wine. The
collection was amassed over 33 years by a midwestern connoisseur and is valued at a minimum of $250,000.
This classic collection includes mostly red wines from the world's most prestigious producers in France,
Italy and the United States. Included are such critically acclaimed French wines as Châteaux Latour,
Lafite-Rothschild, Pétrus, Cheval Blanc and Margaux from 1982 and 1990; and noteworthy Burgundies including
1985 La Tâche from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
Among the numerous superb Italian wines offered are those from Bruno Giacosa and Gaja, including the
stellar 1985 vintage. Highly collectible California wines offered include Phelps Insignia 1985, Dominus
1983, Dalla Valle Maya 1988, Opus One 1987 and rare, older wines by Diamond Creek.
Many of the wines in this collection received perfect scores from such discriminating critics as Robert
Parker Jr. and Wine Spectator magazine. Most were purchased upon release, expertly shipped and impeccably
stored in a temperature-controlled, underground cellar. The record keeping on these wines is excellent.
Like the rare works of art that they are, they have been lovingly cared for.
WineBid.com US is offering these wines for sale during its online auction from April 22-May 6.
WineBid.com expects this collection to generate great excitement among the growing legions of wine
collectors in the U.S. and elsewhere.
WineBid.com, based in Napa, CA., was founded in March 1996, holding its first online auction in
September 1996. In early 2000, in response to increased demand for fine European and Australian wines,
WineBid.com started online auctions in London, England and Sydney, Australia. WineBid.com now runs
concurrent auctions in all three locations twice a month. With annual revenues of $15 million in 2000,
up from $5 million in 1999, and 16,000 registered bidders around the world, WineBid.com is the world's
largest online wine auction.
Bidding on this rare collection begins 11 p.m. EDT Sunday, April 22, and runs through 9 p.m. EDT
Sunday, May 6.
