RATINGS

90Wine Spectator

Elements of oak spice, mineral and a supple texture come into play, but the finish clamps down.

... floral nuances that precede suave middle weight flavors that also possess relatively sophisticated tannins even though they're more prominent on the mouth coating finish.

Complex, appetising nose. Really racy and fresh. Great stuff. Very similar in build to the Cras but just with an extra spark of energy.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits-Villages, Nuits-St.-Georges, Clos Des Argillieres

Clos des Argillieres is a 5.6-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Nuits-Saints-Georges appellation, in Burgundy’s Cote-de-Nuits. It is one of a string of Premier Cru vineyards on the southern edge of the appellation that are in the commune of Premeaux. These vineyards are steep and Burgundy writer Clive Coates has called the wines of these vineyards “sturdy, muscular and masculine.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
