A very old-style, massive monster of a wine that's very deep ruby-garnet in color, with an intense, earthy, spicy Syrah-like nose. Full-bodied, with masses of fruit and tannin and a giant finish. Will age for decades to come.
This is a superlative wine. Such consistent brilliance was not again evident until the succession of super performances that began in 1982.
