RATINGS

96The Wine Advocate

Medium to full-bodied and ample, it explodes on the palate, unleashing waves of iodine-laced minerals, white fruits & liquefied rocks.

95Burghound.com

...white flowers, oyster shell and subtle spice notes that perfectly complement the round, powerful, rich and full-bodied flavors that coating the mouth and culminate in a saliva-inducing, incredibly intense finish...A great Les Clos.

94Stephen Tanzer

...Aromas of iodine, crushed stone, flint and oatmeal. Wonderfully sweet and creamy, with its pliant mouthfeel firmed by vibrant minerality. Finishes taut and racy, with terrific lift. Very young but not at all hard. This is already suave.

92Wine Spectator

Refined and elegant, this exudes floral, herb, lemon and mineral aromas and flavors. Harmonious and long, yet tightens up on the finish...

18.5Jancis Robinson

...Big, round and powerful. So big it disguises the acidity and minerality. Though doubtless in 20 years it’ll look great.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Les Clos

Les Clos is a 61-acre Grand Cru vineyard in the appellation of Chablis, at the northwestern tip of Burgundy. With rocky soil, good drainage, and a southerly orientation, the vineyard is generally the most acclaimed of the Chablis Grand Crus. The principal landholders are Fevre with 10.38 acres; J. Moreau, with 9.01 acres; and C. Moreau, with 9 acres. Other notable producers with parcels in Les Clos are Francois Raveneau, Louis Pinson, Joseph Drouhin and Rene Dauvissat. Like all the Chablis vineyards, it is planted exclusively to Chardonnay.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, Chablis Grand Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
