RATINGS

96Robert M. Parker Jr.

Flavors of silica, grilled nuts, sun-baked stones, straw, hops, & limes can be found in this hyper-focused wine. Its medium-to-full body is magnificently balanced & precise, yet broad, thick, & rich. This is a fabulously elegant offering..

96Burghound.com

..elegant nose soars from the glass offering almost unbelievably good delineation & nuanced white flower fruit & subtle petrol notes with detailed, pure & racy middle weight complex flavors underpinned by intense minerality & superb length.

95-97The Wine Advocate

Displaying defined rock, mineral and flower aromas, this medium-to-full-bodied and perfectly-balanced wine's precision is mind-blowing. Chalk, rock dust, stones and crisp pears are found in its superbly-focused flavor profile.

90Wine Spectator

The rich, powerful, ultratoasty oak dominates the incredibly minerally character of the terroir right now. Buttery and voluptous, showing beautiful pebble, stone and vanilla bean, with a slightly bitter, aggressive oak-induced flavor..

18Jancis Robinson

...Lots of complex evolution on the nose, Still lots of acidity and savoury stuff..

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet

Chevalier-Montrachet is one of the four justly famous Grand Cru Chardonnay vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet appellation in Burgundy. The 18-acre vineyard is located up the slope from Le Montrachet and shares Le Montrachet’s excellent southern exposure, though Chevalier-Montrachet’s soil is considerably thinner and more rocky. Burgundy writer Clive Coates has noted that Chevalier-Montrachet is “full, firm” and has “a great deal of depth and elegance.” The largest landholders are Bouchard Pere et Fils, 7.5 acres; Leflaive, 4 acres; and Louis Jadot, 1.5 acres.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, Grand Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
